Creative Commons licenses

Through the UC Journals Portal, access to information published from different UC digital magazines is facilitated, promoting the dissemination and use of Creative Commons Licenses.

In this way, the authors of the works maintain their copyright, while allowing publishers and readers/users to copy, distribute and make some uses of their content, at least in a non-commercial way. They also allow authors to get credit they deserve for their creations.

Publishing ethics and plagiarism

UC Libraries offers support and services to editorial teams, to promote ethical guidelines that allow the development and improvement of the different aspects of the academic publication process:

1. Similarity Check (Crossref.org): platform available for UC journals, whose objective is to detect similarity of the article with already published sources. Verification is suggested to be carried out throughout the editorial process.

2. Intellectual Property Consulting: supports and promotes a culture of academic integrity around intellectual property, through:

Advice and management, in collaboration with the UC Legal Affairs Directorate (DAJ), in the use and application of Creative Commons licenses, support in licenses, permits and copyright authorization letters for UC magazines; knowledge and application of law 17,336 and intellectual property and data protection regulations; support and training on responsibilities in identifying ethical failures in scientific publications and research, among others.

Training instances through workshops, talks, seminars and thematic guides on the ethical use of information, copyright and intellectual property.
