Resumen
The controversial question of the relationship between Eckhart and Thomas Aquinas can be clarified by considering the paths of the two Dominicans, who were almost contemporaries. Both became masters at the University of Paris, but Eckhart was more oriented towards preaching in circles with a deep spiritual thirst (nuns, beguines, etc.). Eckhart followed Aquinas in many respects, for example, in the conviction that there is only one truth, the exitus-reditus schema, and so on. Yet, Eckhart emphasised certain ontological principles and placed himself in the perspective of God and considered divine eternity to be a “present now”. Thus, eternal bliss is already possible. It bursts into the ground of the soul of the detached person.
