Resumen

Obstetric-gynecological violence is related to the mistreatment experienced by a woman when she attends health care during her pregnancy, childbirth or postpartum process. In San Juan de Pasto-Colombia, the study of the subject is recent and necessary as a resource to mitigate the problem, for this reason a quantitative descriptive study with a cross-sectional design is proposed to identify the presence and forms of gynecological violence experienced by an incidental sample of 66 pregnant, lactating and postpartum women attended in third-level health institutions in the city. The information was collected by applying the "VGO Questionnaire" individually, which was created by the researchers and validated by the target audience and expert judgment. The results indicate that there is basic knowledge on the subject and there are few reports of experienced violence, however, low but not insignificant results can be seen in which women point out that the reproaches, criticisms or inappropriate comments come from the nursing or administrative staff. Of the institutions in which they are cared for, some women felt verbally and/or psychologically mistreated at the time of delivery care by the nursing staff, they also pointed out in some cases that there was no privacy when touches or examinations were performed due to the presence of medical students without their consent during the procedure, finally it is evident that the most frequent form of violence is preventing the entry of the partner or family member as emotional support during childbirth.
