Resumen

In this work we analyze the importance of the british immigrants in the economic development of Valparaiso during the first half of twenty century. We highlight their predominance in the international trade and in the industrial activity especially those that reveal a high technological development. The economic and demographic decline of the british immigrants from 1920 is in close relation with the lost of the british influence in Latin America after the First World War.
