The title of the work, “Qualitative Research” defines the contribution of this text to the review, from of the methodological level, of the multiple approaches and theoretical perspectives from which research processes of this order have been approached. The subtitle “Views from Social Work” does not define an adjective question of the work but its fundamental core, it is a reflection on qualitative research from Social Work, referring to it as both investigative practice and professional training in research. In effect, the text presents qualitative research as open. to the use of different methods, interested in everyday life, valuing the perspectives of the participants. She considers that the person who investigates is the main instrument and that creativity, reflective and critical thinking are fundamental. The author believes that our assessment as social workers tends to be desubordination to other disciplines. Its position is not one of competition, but rather one of collaboration with them, recognizing the important contributions to the understanding of diversity between humans and humans. He points out that working with diverse populations, even if they are mostly poor people, allows us to understand and make visible people who are probably ignored by academia. The first and second chapters refer to the characteristics and theoretical perspectives of qualitative research, the next six follow the cycle of the qualitative research process from the delimitation of the problem or topic, continuing through the definition of the design, the samples, the information production methods, to conclude with the evaluation. , reflections and final suggestions. Below is a summary of the contents of the book by chapters. The first chapter, called characterization of qualitative research, presents a brief historical overview of the evolution of this orientation in research, and also describes the general characteristics that define Qualitative Research.
