Evaluation of Clinic! Hospital of Catholic University as Mother and Child Breastfeeding Friendly Hospital: 11 years of history

This scud y is an evaluation of 11 years of crajectory of the Clinic Hospital of Catholic University of Chile, and sorne ambulatory healch cencers, accredited by UNICEF as Mocher and Child Breascfeeding Friendly Hospital. To achieve che objectives, nurse midwifes reorganized che Breascfeeding Committee and develop an evaluation process through supervision of acciv icies, audit report cs, app lied surveys to interna] personnel and made incerviews with hospitalized mochers. The 10 sceps recommended for UNICEF chac improves breascfeeding and maternal child bond, were evaluated. Based on findings, we conclude that chac chroug h chese 11 years, we obcained bonding practice in a 100% of che child birchs with chouc risk and remarkable effort. Posiciv e personnel disposition in scimul ace breascfeeding precociously. Weakness of the program is related to the absence of wriccen policies, qualification of personnel in the area, the use of artificial hydration in the nursery ac che hospital, incompletion of reports and references by professionals, and absence of feedback becween che ambu lacory and hospitalization syscems. The auchors propose a program crough 3 years to overcome these weaknesses.
