Summary
In 1905, the plaza and monument dedicated to Francisco Bolognesi and his companions who died in the Morro de Arica during the War of the Pacific (1879-1883) were inaugurated in Lima. Based on the role played by monuments and public spaces in Lima at the end of the nineteenth-century and beginning of the twentieth, during the delicate relations between Peru and Chile and the Peruvian intentions to strengthen a diplomatic union with Argentina, we will analyze the project to create them, their intrinsic material characteristics and the ceremony of their inaugurations; where the guest of honor was the Argentinian Roque Sáenz Peña.
