Summary
In this work we approach the study of self-regulatory processes that a person uses to deal with obstacles that show up in the course of the action. After choosing between two candidates the one that they subsequently would have a conversation with about "intimate matters", we analyzed how they go on when faced with an obstacle (additional information that contradicts the choice made). Specifically, we want to study how the additional information that appears in this moment and that relates to the current intention is processed. Results suggest that, in this phase of action, additional information is processed according to whom it refers to. The type of information does not seem to be important, which is opposite to Gollwitzer's (1990) theorizings. Results are explained in terms of the German tradition in action control.
