Summary
Abstract: Based on the comparative study of three experiences of the historical mission – Martín de Braga among the Suebi (6th century), the mission of Bonifacio among the Germans (8th century) and the works of Bernardino de Sahagún among the Nahuas ( 16th century) – the present study aims to investigate the historical expressions of a controversial instrument of the mission known as evemerism, and which has as a hermeneutical principle the denial of the divine character of the Gods due to their human condition. As a hypothesis, it is maintained that evemerism is not expressed in the historical mission as an exemplum or narrative of the mission, but as a theoretical principle capable of being assembled according to the missionary's agenda and the possibilities of his field work.
