Título
Youth selfinflicted violence as mean of silencing the word
Resumen
The general objective of the research was to analyze a mechanism that silences the word through self-inflicted violence in young populations, proposing the assumption that silence, represented by the wound after self-injury, constitutes a primary mechanism for reducing the word, and that social intervention fails when ignoring the symbolic aspects of the phenomenon. From a qualitative-interpretative approach, based on a phenomenological perspective the research searched for recovering the symbolic weight in the social intervention, acknowledging the its signs and structure, identifying three central units of analysis: the young people, professionals and technicians in the world of face to face intervention and, the social work in his/her role as observer.
