Resumen
El Taller Ilustrado was the first Chilean weekly newspaper exclusively dedicated to arts and literature. It circulated between July 1885 and July 1888, at behest of its creator, director and journalist, sculptor José Miguel Blanco. This medium provided information about artists, saloons, activities, services and debates and it documented national artistic events. It had special sensitivity towards European works, mainly French. El Taller Ilustrado had an editorial style and an aesthetic sensitivity very similar to the European academic tradition and the perception of the most influential local society. The newspaper recorded the most important artistic information in Chile during the second half of 19th century.
