Through the study of art nude, the following paper will approach cultural, aesthetic, political and artistic issues. Through a genealogical analysis of three works of art, made in different historical moments and with very different social purposes, such as The Birth of Venus by Botticelli, The Venus of Urbino by Titian and The Rokeby Venus by Velázquez, we will see how the ideal fi gure for a woman was constructed in each period and how the social construction of femininity used to work in the western culture.
